Looking for a HealthifyMe alternative? An honest comparison

HealthifyMe is one of India’s best-known health apps, with AI tools and human nutritionists and trainers. Vitality is a different kind of app: an AI-first tracker with no human coaches, where typing or saying your meal is free. Here is how they compare, including where HealthifyMe is the better choice.

Food logging

Vitality is built around describing a meal in your own words: “2 roti, dal and bhindi” becomes three items with calories, protein, carbs, fat and fibre, which you can check and adjust before saving. Typing and voice are free, and so are recent meals and My Saved Meals. Photo, barcode and label scans are 2 a month on the free plan and up to 50 a day on Plus.

HealthifyMe’s Google Play listing says you can “log meals effortlessly using photo or voice”, and its website leads with HealthifySnap, its photo tracking.

What’s free on each

Vitality’s free plan includes meal logging by typing or voice; calories, protein, carbs, fat and fibre; workouts, water, sleep, steps and body metrics; breathing exercises; and Health Connect and Apple Health sync, with no ads. See every feature, free and Plus.

HealthifyMe doesn’t publish a free-versus-paid feature list on its website. Its pricing page says: “To upgrade to HealthifyMe Premium, please check out our plans on the app.”

AI coach vs human coaches

Vitality’s AI Coach, part of Plus, answers from your own logs and can log food, workouts, water, sleep and weight for you. It is an AI, not a dietitian, and it doesn’t make meal plans. See what the AI Coach does.

HealthifyMe offers both: AI Coach Ria, and people. Its website invites you to “work with a nutritionist who fits your needs best”, HealthifyPro promises “expert guidance from the world’s best coaches”, and its Google Play listing mentions certified trainers and a customised diet plan.

Price

Vitality is free to download. Plus costs ₹99 a month or ₹299 a year on the App Store in India, and Google Play lists Vitality’s in-app items at ₹100 to ₹300. Prices vary by country and store.

HealthifyMe shows its plans and prices in its app. Google Play in India lists its in-app items at ₹75 to ₹15,200.

Where HealthifyMe is better

  • Human experts. If you want a nutritionist, dietitian or trainer checking in on you, HealthifyMe offers that and Vitality doesn’t.
  • Diet and workout plans. HealthifyMe makes customised plans; Vitality only tracks what you do.
  • Scale and track record. HealthifyMe says it is trusted by over 40 million users, and its Google Play listing shows more than 1 crore downloads.

Where Vitality fits better

  • You want to log meals by typing or voice, for free, with no ads.
  • You prefer to track on your own, without a coach.
  • You want protein front and centre, with fibre and your own daily targets.
  • You use the web as well as your phone: the same account works on Android, iPhone and any browser.

How to switch

  1. Install Vitality, or start in your browser, and set your targets: worked out for you, or your own numbers.
  2. Log your usual meals once and tick “Save as a meal”, so tomorrow they are one tap from My Saved Meals.
  3. Log your current weight so your chart starts from today. There’s no direct import from HealthifyMe, but weight, body fat and workouts in Health Connect or Apple Health can come in from there.
